GARIBALDI SA is a Chilean-owned company founded in 1953 to provide the domestic market of high quality packaging products. Innovation and development are a constant in our work. We have a clear objective of providing products and services that provide an effective solution to the most complex challenges presented by current markets.

Currently, we have four business lines: supplies and equipment for tertiary packaging, semi-finished steel products, recycling equipment and end- of -the -line automation projects.

With our four areas of business, we serve al industrial sectors, almost without exception, the most relevant being the mining, forestry, agro-industrial, fishing, distribution, Food & Drink, among others.

For Industrial Packaging, we manufacture steel, polyester, and polypropylene strapping, cornerbacks cardboard, and stamps for steel and plastic. Additionally, we commercialize other packaging supplies such as film plastic, tools, equipment, and accessories for strapping and wrapping of the most prominent brands worldwide.

We also support our clients in the design and implementation of end-line automation projects, with a local team of vast experience and the support of leading brands in automation like Itipack, Strapack, among others.

In addition, we have a business line associated with the manufacture of steel strapping. We are the biggest producers of broomsticks made of steel and plastic coated in South America, and also high-strength tubes and steel strips, which are used by the national industry as the main input for the manufacture of other products.

Finally, our strong commitment to the environment has made us incorporate a line of equipment for handling steel and plastic waste, which includes compactors, grinders, etc. Garibaldi collaborates in a responsible way with the recycling and reuse of materials, and the circular economy with all of the products we manufacture.

 

Atilio and Juan Garibaldi

Our History
In 1953, Atilio and Juan founded Garibaldi SA, in order to meet the needs of the market, oriented to the development of the small and medium industry. In its beginnings it was meant to be specialized in cold steel rolling that allowed the manufacturing of stamped metal parts that require surfaces suitable for the electroplating processes and straps for industrial packaging, ( Later called ZUNAR 100, high tensile (high carbon content and thermal treatment) and regular duty called ZUNAR 90 and ZUNAR 80 (medium carbon).

Thanks to the quality of our products, these became one of the factors which allowed the export of national and international industry products. Allowing copper, cellulose, wood, fruits, and salmon industry products to be able to travel the world packed with Garibaldi strapping, making us an international brand for packaging solutions.

Milestones for Garibaldi S.A.

  • 1953

    Garibaldi S.A. foundation.

    The company was founded to meet the needs of the market, to develop small and medium-sized industry, specialized in cold steel rolling (steel shavings and steel strapping).

  • 1955

    First steel strapping production

    Garibaldi started to manufacture regular duty steel strapping rolls for the first time.

  • 1972

    High Tensile Steel Strapping Coil

    The company installed the first patented line (heat treatment) in Chile, starting the domestic production of high tensile steel strapping, which is vital for mining, forest and metalworking industry.

  • 1983

    Reversible Mino Rolling Mill

    Taking a leap in technology, Garibaldi invested in a reversible rolling mill increasing its laminating capacity and quality of its products.

  • 1987

    Acquisition of INDAMA

    Garibaldi deepens its participation in the steel business, by starting activities in the sale of structural steel profiles for construction. Indama is today a manufacturing and marketing leader in southern Chile.

  • 1988

    Investment: Second Patent Line

    Based on its great commercial success of the high tensile steel strapping, Garibaldi invests in a second line of patented strapping.

  • 1995

    Industrial Development Award by Sofofa

    Thanks to its successful trajectory contributing to the development of the national industry, Garibaldi receives this important union recognition.

  • 1996

    Purchase of the second Mino Rolling Mill

    The company continues to establish its position as a steel market leader, with the acquisition of a second state-of-the-art Mino rolling mill.

  • 1997

    Incorporation of Polyester Strapping

    Following the trends of the international markets, the company introduces the polyester strapping product line manufactured with Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), which provides great resistance and elongation in mooring tasks for medium-stress applications

  • 2001

    New Patent Line

    Staying at the forefront of technology, Garibaldi implements the first patented line with the new Ebner prototype, the first of its kind in the world.

  • 2000

    First manufacture of broom handles

    Having identified a need for innovative and high-strength products for the domestic market, Garibaldi acquires a tube factory to enter the market for high-strength tubes and handles.

  • 2000

    Entry to the Plastics Business

    Garibaldi starts up the polypropylene strap manufacturing line.

  • 2003

    Construction of new facilities.

    The company leaves its factory in Calle El Molino, moving to its new and current facilities in Quilicura, where is building an industrial center avant-garde.

  • 2005

    Investment in Interpet

    Garibaldi founds the Interpet company, a Joint Venture with an international company, to start the local manufacturing of polyester strapping.

  • 2005

    We open a branch in Concepción -Chile

    In order to increase its regional presence, Garibaldi opened a branch in Concepción with the purpose to serve its clients in the south central zone and the industrial pole of the eighth region.

  • 2010

    International Growth

    Growth to South America begins, with the inauguration of Garibaldi Peru, taking a first step outside of Chile to strengthen the bond with our clients abroad.

  • 2014

    Garibaldi México

    Considering the importance of industrial development in the north of Mexico, Monterrey, Garibaldi opened a branch with a complete mix of specialized products for the local market.

  • 2015

    Sale of the Interpet Business.

    Garibaldi decides to sell its share of Interpet Joint Venture, to build his own Polyester Strapping production line, achieving that same year its very first production.

  • 2016

    Expansion to other packaging products

    A cornerbacks production line is acquired, to potentiate its position as a leader in the field of packaging materials and supplies .
